Malignant solitary fibrous tumors in a renal allograft: the nephron-sparing surgery option

Solitary fi brous tumors (SFT) are\udrare mesenchymal neoplasms,\udoccurring mainly in the pleural\udcavity. Since their initial description\udin the pleura by Klemperer and Rabin1\udin 1931, SFTs have been reported in nearly\udevery body site.2 SFTs are generally\udbenign, slow-growing neoplasms and carry\uda favorable prognoses; however, malignant\udvariants, usually in the pleura, have been\udreported.3-5\udTo date, 19 renal SFTs have been\udreported in the literature with only 1 reported\udcase of histologically malignant SFT.6\udWe report what is, to our knowledge, the\udfi rst documented case of malignant SFT\udarising in a renal graft.
